Adding non-WP html/css/js internet pages to my website/root area probable? Any warnings, tips or points I must retain in thoughts?

I use WP for all my web pages but I am now mastering JS and would like to have some internet pages that I code absolutely independently outside the house of WP. I signify Html/CSS/JS webpages that I upload to the root area that can then be linked to from my WP navigation menu for illustration.

For example, I have webpages made in WP like /get in touch with and /about but let us say I want to make my /portfolio web site exterior of WP. Are there any special factors I need to have to keep in thoughts so I you should not split my WP web site?

Also, what would come about if I created an index.html website page and set it in the root? Would heading to mydomainname.com no for a longer time consider me to the homepage I established inside WP?
